Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 11, 2020). Robert J. Girard II, Esq., a founding partner of Girard Bengali, APC, in Los Angeles, California, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA). Mr. Girard was elected at PIABA’s recent 2020 Annual Meeting for a three-year term.
Founded in 1990, PIABA (www.piaba.org) is an international, not-for-profit bar association of attorneys who represent investors in disputes with the securities industry. Dedicated to the rights and fair treatment of the investing public, PIABA promotes the interests of the public investor through prosecution of claims in all securities and commodities arbitration forums, lobbying state and federal legislatures for greater investor protection, and advocating for public education regarding investment fraud and industry misconduct.
Mr. Girard has been a member of PIABA since 2016 and has co-chaired PIABA’s Bylaws Committee since 2018. Currently, he serves as the co-chair of the Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) Committee, which is devoted to shaping the securities industry landscape by providing a voice for public investors through commentary and advocacy regarding state and federal proposed rules and regulations, including those promulgated by the SEC and FINRA.
In his law practice, Mr. Girard advocates for institutional and individual investors in arbitration and litigation against unscrupulous brokerage and advisory firms in court and FINRA Dispute Resolution/Arbitration and other forums. For 20 years, he has built a reputation as an effective advocate for his clients and has recovered millions of dollars for investors from most of the major Wall Street brokerage firms.
Through negotiated settlements, arbitrations and trials, Mr. Girard has a proven track record of successfully protecting his clients’ interests with a results-oriented approach and a zealous commitment to meeting, and exceeding, his clients’ expectations. Mr. Girard’s representations include victims of financial elder abuse, securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, unsuitable investment strategies, misrepresentations, and account mismanagement, among others.
Mr. Girard has consistently been named by Super Lawyers Magazine to the Southern California Super Lawyers list every year since 2015, a designation reserved for the top 5% of lawyers nationwide.
